SadRecently I lost a friendship. My friend was from another state and I got to meet her and she was very nice to talk to but she seems to be ashamed of the gospel and has turned away from me because I am not ashamed. I certainly have many faults but thank God I am not ashamed of the gospel. She says she believes the right things but when you look at her actions they seem to say something else. I knew her for a couple of years now but mainly only through what she said. Recently she has been saying and doing things that indicate a lack of faith. She quit being openly my friend because she was afraid to lose one of her other friends. The reason she quit being my friend openly is because I believe in a sovereign God – especially when it comes to salvation. My friend said she believed in that same God but she cut off open ties because her friend found out more about me and disagreed with the sovereignty of God is salvation. Obviously my old friend wasn’t open about her beliefs in a sovereign God in salvation with her friend and was hiding it because she wanted to keep her friendship. We should never put our friends before God. If we are in the faith, we should not be ashamed of the gospel! The gospel is this… a sovereign God sent His son to save whom He willed to be saved. He did it for His glory although we were completely undeserving, depraved, awful sinners. He did not save everyone and He does have a chosen people. Only those who God wills to be saved will be saved. They were already saved from the beginning because this was God’s perfect plan. We have no way of knowing who it is God has included in His salvation plan so we must share with all whom will hear it. 3 comments to Sad |

Amen, Dani. It sure is sad. Makes me think of this verse:
1 John 2:19
They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.
It is very tough when some one disowns us for the gospel’s sake but at times like this I remember all the shame and humiliation our Lord suffered on our behalf.
Nothing we will ever face with come near what Christ has done for his people!
“Nothing we will ever face with come near what Christ has done for his people!”
That is certainly true!
